I live in Maryland in what is considered the metropolitan Washington DC area; and I have been an AT&T customer since, wow - forever. I moved to AT&T from Sprint, and I couldn't be any happier with the customer service, pricing, call quality, and consistency with their network. When the iPhone 3G came out, I switched to it from a Samsung Blackjack 2. Since my company didn't support the iPhone, I was able to find a workaround using google. Well, about a year or so ago, my company's IT department decided to do something with the security which precluded me from further use of my eхploit, so I was forced to get a company-provided Blackberry Tour using Verizon - a day that shall live in infamy. It was extremely slow; I experienced drop call at a rate much higher than with AT&T, and I was so frustrated at the fact that I couldn't do anything else, such as search the web, while I was on a call. So I ends up carrying two phones. One to check work email and calendar, and my AT&T iPhone for everything else.
Well, I am pleased to say that my company know uses Google Apps (yeeeessss), and I am back down to one phone. But the reason for my post is to get a sense of whiter or not the complaints I hear about AT&T are regional. I rarely experience dropped calls; their network is really fast (faster than our guest provided wifi at work), and I can browse the web while on the phone with my wife (she is still with sprint). I was troubled at the most recent cover of Consumer Reports vis-a-vis their analysis of carries. On it it states "Sorry AT&T, or something to that effect..By the way, a majority of the people at work complain about Verizon, which prompted us to go to a stipend program for those of us the require to have a smart phone. So is service regional, and xo those folks living in areas of the country with limited AT&T technology have the loudest bark?

It's not. Risky male to female sex is also excluded (sleeping with anyone involved in the sex industry). It's a question of exposure to mixing blood, and thus communicating disease. Statistically, Male to Male sex increases that risk...
...The issue is that male to male sex by its very nature has a higher chance of passing on certain diseases than male to female. Risky male to female is also excluded (if you have slept with a prostitute or been in countries with high levels of disease)...
Arrgh! You cited the tamest statistic from the CDC article. Here are the others: 20% of gay men are HIV positive and 44% don't know it.
THAT is why the question is asked. As a future possible recipient of blood, I'm glad they ask it.
The question asked of heterosexuals =/= asked gay and bisexual men. The risk factor for straight people is risky sex, the risk factor asked for gay men is not risky sex, but sex at all - even once. Its not the same thing. If there was no bigotry behind the question it would be raised this way to all, no matter what orientation "have you had unprotected sex with more than one partner in the last 5 years, if yes have you been tested for HIV?"

About 40 people in line. Line goes about half a block down.
Tents, lawn chairs, guitar hero, kids playing soccer in the street. So many fanboys.
Black sheets covering the windows.
Little known fact: Steve Jobs lives within 12 blocks of this store.

Most of the free apps I use are bundled with OSX... but there are a bunch of them, from Safari and iApps to Grab and DigitalColor Meter.
Others I use (or used to use before getting retail software to replace them) are:
-Okito Composer (word processor)
-Taco HTML Edit (great simple little app for editting web code)
-Kung Log (blog utility)
-Firefox (Web browser.. secondary to Safari)
-Poisoned (P2P)
-Transparent Dock (activates "hidden dock features")
-Audio Recorder (extremely simple recording app)

As a publicity stunt, it is working. Let's say they bought them in bulk from Best Buy or Wal-Mart. They have a couple dozen locations each at 300 units per store all discounted $100. That's a $720,000 total marketing expense for all the publicity you can mooch off Apple. On black friday.

Here's a piece done by Fortune posted just a few minutes ago referring to the TJ Maxx thing:
http://tech.fortune.cnn.com/2010/11/19/how-to-get-on-steve-jobs-naughty-list/
I seriously doubt the figure of "80 iPads total" aquired by TJ Maxx that is speculated in the article, but who knows.

You mean people aren't exactly rushing out to buy the iPhone 4, as apple preps the iPhone 5 - shocking.
Why would apple or verizon be surprised.
Then why is this guy saying the iPhone 4 could be sold well into 2012 at the current sales level ?
I guess this means end of the year introduction (if even that) for iPhone 4S/5 (or what ever they will call it). In all honesty I'm not surprised. With the current sales Apple could easily be pushing iPhone all the way to early 2012.
Seriously, the older the iPhone 4 gets, the further away the competition is. I doubt Apple can milk that cow for much longer.

You can connect an external USB HDD to the Time Capsule and use that for new backups. This keeps the backups currently on the TC intact and allows room for expansion.

IMO you don't leave a massively successful company after 22 years without a reason unless your retiring.
He did give a reason
."I've worked with Steve for 22 years and have had an incredible time developing products at both NeXT and Apple, but at this point, I want to focus less on products and more on science," said Bertrand Serlet
Like OMG, I had the craziest thought! What if MacRumors had more articles about...Mac Rumors?! Whoa whoa wee wow, that would be so cool.
*Face Palm.
Boring stuff.
MacRumors: Apple Mac Rumors and News You Care About.
Obviously you don't care about this but don't you think that the "senior vice president of Mac Software Engineering" who has been a part of previous keynote speechs consitutites news about Apple.
Serlet has occasionally appeared at Apple keynote and media events over the years to introduce Mac OS X-related features

Anyone here able to get this card working with Lion?
I'm running Lion DP2 (with all current updates), and I can't get it working in my 2010 Mac Pro -- nothing I plug in, is being recognized.
Interestingly though, if I go into the 'PCI' section of the system profiler, the card show up properly (even showing that the driver is installed).
I figure the problem is driver incompatibility, but I thought there might be some "trick" or alternate driver that might work....

This is really funny. Hello, I would like to introduce myself. I'm the infamous seller! :) How are you guys. It's funny that most people here are laughing about the stupidity of others like myself.
But anyway, this is in no way illegal. I would know, being a student of law. In addition, eBay AND PayPal have sided with me on this matter MULTIPLE times. The only time PayPal sided with the buyer was when they claimed they never got it and I had no shipping proof. The item is accurately described, end of story. Stop crying about it and be more responsible.
Just an ending note, I've made over $2,000 doing this before and used it to buy two amazing Les Pauls. ;)
Thanks!

just to clear something up. This right now appears to be a text-based phone. I don't think Wu is talking about iChat AV functionality. Some other sites (of much, much less accuracy) have been claiming that the iPhone would be able to do videoconferencing and whatnot, but currently there isn't any good evidence to support this, and in my opinion it doesn't look like current 3G GSM cellular networks simply don't have the duplex bandwidth to deliver that kind of content. (and 4G is still a ways off)

Hi,
After a long time..
Is there any API Support for the air share concept implementation in the iOS SDK.
Please let us know if any had implemented.
Though Air Share (http://itunes.apple.com/in/app/air-sharing/id289943355?mt=8) itunes app is using WebDAV protocol, not much idea of implementation was found me.
Please share any snippets...
Thanks in advance

Wow - it really is that simple
I LOVE apple.
Temps are up as I mounted 2 drives in the caddie under the 5.25 enclosure. Up to about 50deg.
The sata cards & HD's pump out some heat as well. Figure I might add another fan in the top of the case like this http://www.s155158671.websitehome.co.uk/quicksilverpage2.html to expel the extra heat.
The heat sink could maybe made more efficient. For class A amplifiers with fins running horizontally one trick is to drill holes through the fins vertically thus creating extra surface area (sides of holes) to make up for the loss in material and a chimney effect as the heat can rise through the holes. That or cut into the fins towards the base, again creating more surface area and chimney effect

It's obviously just to eliminate the jailbreak, as usual.
To all of those talking about jailbreaking, that's unpatchable at this point. Remember that they found a boot rom vulnerability that they had been hoping for. Those can only be patched by hardware, not software. The only problem is that it only allows tethered jailbreaks, without an additional vulnerability to exploit to make it untethered. This jailbreaks all devices except the recently released iPad 2, so they just make a few updates and release a tethered jailbreak right away, and an untethered jailbreak when they can.
TL;DR - Apple cannot patch the jailbreak with software updates, so stop worrying about it.

To torture a defenseless individual is sick and against human rights. To cheerlead the torture of defenseless individuals by others for your own sense of retribution is both sick and cowardly.
So, what do you call, and how do we handle the individual(s)who planned, and helped to plan the death of 3,000 + individuals on 9/11, the bombing of the U.S.S. Cole, the Bali nightclub bombings, and who knows how many more acts of terrorism?
Can you honestly sit there and tell me that when we have in custody a high profile leader such as K.S.M. who has intricate, first hand knowledge of a terrorist organization that we should not do all that we can to obtain as much information from this person as possible? I suppose your thinking (and those of many others here) is that he should have been given a trial by jury, sent to prison, and that we had no right to try and obtain information from him?

Don't worry somebody's already working on an app to block the tracking. You can bet on that:D
and watch, Apple will ban that app.
