I like your idea but the minimum is 50$/ month or 100$/ month.

If 20,000 people donate 5$/ month = 1.2 million $/ year.
= 1 million $ (after loosing transaction charges)
So next step enable 5$/ month to 100$/ month RECURRING contribution arrangements ASAP.
To avoid transaction charges let users pay quarterly or half-yearly recurring.
i.e. if one wants to donate 5$/ month so it will be 30$/ 6 months etc.

The only difference between the historic data (1930/1960/1990) and 2008 is that, we are in globalized economy now. The crash you are seeing now is much much different than what anybody has seen before.
Crude prices are crashing because the demand growth projections Goldman sachs had was based on availability of which is not the case now. So, demand for crude is lower and hence oil prices are crashing. Look at GM and ford. They are going down too, because auto sales are doomed for next 2 years.
The problem why Gold will go up is multifold.
China, OPEC countries have huge dollar reserves and hence would like to diversify their dollars. The run up in Gold is just because China and few Oil exporting countries were buying Gold. Gold still has more room to rise. I am talking about physical gold and not the paper gold (GLD ticker symbol).
United States has to print dollars to meet the present crisis. At the same time, it has support those currency papers with Gold. Without Gold backing, dollar value will be crushed.

Many in IV will know that I have never opposed legal porting. However, I disagree that this is a way to get out of the mess. There is a fixed total number of Visa available. Per current rule this first comes to EB2 and is consumed completely leaving nothing for EB 3. If all (or majority) EB 3 moves to EB 2, the chocking will be in EB2 . So the "mess" just shifts its position.
The true way is -- 1) Recapture, 2) Exclude dependents from Visa Number
As I see it, the only persons benefited are the ones having the priority dates in ancient times. I think we really should not mind letting them have their GC's, being our seniors.

IV does not support, nor oppose H1-increase as far as I know, that is not on the agenda at all. IV was formed by and for EB -applicants to ease some of the hardships faced by the EB Community and to end the visa-number unavailability and retrogression.

Looks like he has realized that he has been sidelined and did not really get any support for his actions( $ 3500 ) in the press or the media , so now this guy this does this about face and tries to be " so sympathetic" . Looks like the tech lobby stopped the flow of his campaign money and ALIPAC's and the 1500 member programmers guild's coffers are not enough to fund his campaign . :D

Xu1, that is a valid concern. I have sent in this request to admin. But on important issues like this, please do PM admin and other Moderators in addition to public posts. The core group is so drained by all the during the week activities that posts may not be actively monitored during weekends. I think the problem is also logistical, in that we are now getting a lot of checks - which is great, but also now, the core team members handling finances must now take time out to start sending email receipts. So wait for admin and the financial people to get back to you.
Moderators, do you think it's possible to issue an email receipt to contributors? I donated $250 so far and the first $100 was done through my bank billpay.. However, the online billpay deducted the amount right away, and it didn't give me any indication whether the check was actually endorsed by the intended recipient on the supposed delivery date.. Worrying about that, I sent in my second contribution via paypal.
Writing an actual paper check, I would see a copy of endorsement online, or using paypal I would know it's cashed out via email. But this is not the case with my bank's (bank of america) online billpay. Thanks!

You probably can't ask to stop portability from EB3 to EB2 or EB2 to EB1. But you can ask for if filers from EB3 goes to EB2, they can't keep the PD from EB3 but get a new PD for the date USCIS process their EB2 application.

I definitely support complaining against anyone who breaks the lawy, be it employer, or employee.
In this case the guys as he "claims" appears to have come here without employer calling him. And is trying to complain against. Who will be screwed up. The employer can easily say he anticipated, but no project no, so didnt get the guy to US, as its legally allowed not to get.
Again, I STRONGLY feel this thread, and the similar, are all in an effort to divert our attention. Just stop these by not bumping them, with our comments. Let mine be the last.

I have an MS degree, so IF the SKIL is passed, my PD will become current.
My understanding of SKILL for US MS is that it will not be counted against the cap. I don't see it saying that PD does not matter for US MS. What am I missing? Thanks.

I think IV has built this website well and it is an asset it needs to use NOW. I believe IV can charge up to $10,000 a day for advertising on the website. That would be $300,000/month or $3.6 million a year. Even $3000/day would result in over $1 million. That should not be very difficult to do.

Sitting on our butts = Guaranteed failure

They are doing a funding drive.
On day 1 of their funding drive, 117 people gave a total of 5312 dollars.
Their goal is 70K for this quarter. And they hope to raise that money in one week. After this week, they will again ask for funding in the next quarter.
Obviously they have a HUGE membership compared to IV. But that just underscores the need for increasing membership.

This is from my experience:
Few years ago, some one complained against our employer about back wages and we all benefited from it. Our employer had to pay the wages for the vacations that we took (supposedly paid vacation) which they would not have paid, if the investigation had not occurred.
Though your case is weak(in my personal opinion because you seem to have entered US uninvited), A complaint against the employer may unravel some strong cases when the investigation happens.

1. DO NOT talk to the party or attorney who sued you directly. If they call take the contact info, tell that ur attorney will call them.
2. Talk to your insurance company
3. Talk to an attorney
4. Gather all documentation that you have

Like others said you can not go back to India like nothing happened. You have to consult an attorney, ask if he can work on contigency basis. They will get all med records to decide if other party is faking or claiming too much. If you loose the case, then it depends howmuch you have to pay. If damages awarded are less than 500K, you can file bankrupcy. But you end up paying like mortgage forever. Once you file bankrupcy, I think you can leave the contry legally. If you loose and wish to stay, Your payments will be reduced if you have kids and a house payment.
