Was just watching Late Edition on CNN..with Arlen Specter and Chuck Schumer.. Specter did mention that he expects the CIR to be passed in the next few weeks in the lame duck session by the house.. infact he mentioned that the conservative outgoing speaker Hastert in favour of this at this time..so house might pass this now..with the senate already passed this..
Lets see who this goes ..

is not right.
The hardships we have chosen to enter united states and struggle here is of our own choice. It was an option. You can come to office at 9:00AM and leave by 6:00PM. No body asks you to stay late unless you work for a consultant. No body asks you to relocate unless you again work for a consultant.
You could easily get a legal immigration if you opt an easier path 'Marry a local'. So, again you have opted a hard way of going through labor certs, I-140, I-48 etc.
We all have options and it depends what you choose.
Just because few centuries ago someone entered this promised land just like that, you can't expect that to be existing now or atleast a modified version of it now.
Again, i believe the immigration system can be improved only if senators can taken into confidence about our hardships. Striking the way illegal mexicans did and or raising slogans like 'immigration is a right and not a privillege' may play against us.
just my 2 paise.

And as far as "nothing is happening, let's get temporary relief and let's not fight for more numbers" idea is concerned, we are already doing that by trying to get 485 filing provision done in next few days as a temporary relief.
Something to look forward to. Cheer up folks and quit fighting/quiting and start you know what I rant.
Should have mentioned the following obvious thing in your first post.
EVERY SINGLE ITEM on our goals benefits H4 spouses indirectly. Including the short term goals of IV.

One of the IV members has requested me to post this info.
He contacted his senator to get the total number of pending EB apps for India.
Please see the response from the senator in the following link. It has pending applications by category.
http://sites.google.com/site/gc28262/Home/Eb-IndiaPendingApps.pdf.pdf?attredirects=0
Any reason why only numbers for Texas and Nebraska have been provided? Doesnt Vermont do I-485 processing- atleast the processing time has a row for I-485?

Good news but sounds too good too be true. On an average a family takes away 2.5 visas and going by this only 50,000 applications for primary bene is pending.
So if they are giving this info to Senator for free why are they asking us to pay $5K for this; unless we requested different information.

Folks,
This my copyright and very much pertain to our situation:
*********************
Sometimes I think of going back
Try to gather the courage that I lack
But the world I left is not the same any more.
And the world I am in, has lost its lure.
I am on the crossroad of my life
One is forward, one is left and other is right.
I dont like the choices shown
May be I would have to create a world of my own
***************
Thanks
Very true. You had described the plight of 4 out of five immigrants here.

Nope. You are misunderstanding the point again.
The Article clarifies that that Congress has the power to regulate immigration. they used the power and created the INS laws we have today, which as per Congress is the hallmark of US immigration. We have to change those laws specific to EB.
You are muddling immigration laws with civil rights. Your argument about the current law being in violation of ANY constitutional right is completely baseless. You did not respond to my question about how the civil rights clauses you quoted have anything to do with immigration.
There are far too many points here to address at one go. Let me touch upon this for starters:
The Article 1, Section 8 has this clause, regarding the power of congress:
Clause 4: To establish an uniform Rule of Naturalization
Are we disputing the fact that congress has the power to establish a uniform rule of naturalization?
No. We are not. We are just saying, that the current Rule of Naturalization is in violation of the discrimination clause in the constitution, and ought to be disregarded. We are not asking to strip congress of this power, so this argument you make is not relevant. Agreed?
More later ..

I would say, we should take the web fax created by numberUSA and answer each and every point of it in red and bold and then fax to all senetors. Some senetors who are neutral on legal immigration will know exactly whats going on with these anti-immigrants.

Sorry for not making it clear enough...
This guy was not even eligible for a H1 in the first place as he did not know anything about IT... It was his decision to move to US and to lead an american life... so he cooks up a resume...claims to be a software engineer(with due help from his H1 filer consultant, I assume) and landed up here. He was in deep trouble when the Grocery shop closed down and he had to look out for another job... Last I know, he was taking QA training...
So its not a case of my friend being mistreated by his consultant but a case(I'm sure he is not unique within H1 community) where my friend, along with his Consultant took the whole H1B program for a ride....
So
1. He was not forced...he himself falsified it intentionally
2. He is not complaining...he is happy the way things has turned up for him...
3. What was he thinking when he came down here... Surely he cannot code a line in any language or do anything in IT ... He had to take up a non-IT job..
What you are suggesting is probably 0.1% of all the H1b applicants or at the most 1 %. Even that is a big number. I think 99% of all H1b applicants come with intent to work in IT or whatever field they applied in rather than work in a grocery shop. I don't think anyone wants to come to US to work at a grocery shop or a petrol pump .
Lets focus the discussion on H1b employees who are mistreated by the employers by paying them too little , not paying benefits, unfair treatment and so many other things that I could go on about.

It is May 1st today, how much did we finally collect?
As of yesterday it was $ 107,246. Will update the action alerts tonight and then shut down the 150K drive.
Obviously we didnt meet the target. Today is the last day.

I think even if we do not go as far as monetizing every aspect of IV (which I also think we shouldn't) but there should be certain privileges, which should only be there for paid members. If it pisses off a few souls, let be it.
I think, this is the least we can do as IV members, i.e. contribute (and I am sure $20 a month is not an amount folks cannot come up with) but I guess they must be enjoying the free lunch. Let them enjoy it but take away the privilege of posting new messages and getting there questions answered when they cannot even help themselves.
